Acolytes and Lay Eucharistic Ministers - When serving at the alter, lay people actively assist the celebrant in the worship of God. In this important ministry, servers need to be well acquainted with the responsibilities and perform the duties with diligence.
The term acolyte is specifically applied to one who carries a torch or a candle in processions or at other times during the Liturgy. However, the term is commonly interchanged with server, which means one who assists. Beyond Sunday School, serving as an acolyte is often a young person's primary experience and opportunity for growth within the Church.
Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs), who are licensed by the Bishop, administer the chalice at Communion and can perform the duties of acolytes. This ministry is a meaningful opportunity for service, as well as spiritual development.

The Altar Guild also prepares for weddings, funerals, Holy Week, Christmas, and any other special celebrations.
