The Reverend Steve Danzey, Deacon

Introducing Deacon Steve - what are the most important things I would want you to know about me as I begin serving the Lord among you? First, I want you know that I feel truly blessed to have served Christ’s church for over 20 years. I have served three Baptist churches (in Garland, TX, Birmingham, Alabama, and Coppell, TX) for a total of 18 years and one Episcopal church (Incarnation, Dallas) for 2 years. I was ordained a Baptist pastor in 1985 and, after several years of prayerful consideration, put both feet on the Canterbury trail, was confirmed in the Episcopal Church and entered the ordination process. In June 2006 I was ordained a deacon by Bishop Stanton. Every church I have served has been a source of blessing and growth for me. I received my undergraduate degree in history and religion from Samford University, Birmingham, Alabama. I went on to receive a master of divinity degree and a Ph.D degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. My father, an Assemblies of God pastor, stepmother, and most of my extended family live in the Florida panhandle. The joy of my life is my son, Garrett. He is 17 years old and a junior at Plano East Senior High School. Finally, I would want you to know that I am very excited about serving as your Deacon. I have come to respect and admire Mthr. Gail, and look forward to working with and learning from her. I look forward to getting to know you better and serving the Lord with you at Redeemer!
