In the Episcopal Church, the members of the Vestry are those persons responsible for the oversight of parish finances, as well as the buildings and grounds of the parish.  The Vestry also gives spiritual leadership to the parish and acts as "helpers to the Rector in whatever is appropriate to Lay persons for the furtherance of the Gospel.”
